Broader Industry Trends in Summer VR Promotions
The launch of Sony’s Summer VR & VR2 Game Sale aligns with similar sales from Meta’s Peak Summer Sale and Steam’s annual Summer Sale, reflecting a seasonal industry pattern aimed at driving sales during the summer. Historically, such sales boost visibility for VR titles and encourage new users to try virtual reality, especially as hardware prices stabilize and content libraries expand.
Prior to this, Sony has steadily increased its VR offerings, with the recent release of PS VR2 and a growing catalog of compatible titles. The current discounts are likely to accelerate adoption and stimulate interest among both new and existing PlayStation users.
